The city of Santee
I found out a lot about my dad's family on the trip. This used to be their address 7200 Melody Ln. It was originally called Weaver Ln after Mrs Weaver, who used to babysit for them. When she did babysit, she made them help her with the laundry - the old fashioned way - before the machines - on those wooden things
There was a guy called "Happy Morris" that used to sing at the neighborhood "block parties" Apparently, when there was no tv, the neighbors met in each others' yards to chit chat, have a bon fire to make goodies, and sing songs. My grandfather was quite good at the guitar, so good he almost won a talent show, until a string broke =(.
Back to Happy Morris, he sang old folk songs to my grandpa's guitar. The street became more developed and was renamed Melody Lane after Happy Morris. Tom and my dad used to work at this store (used to be a General Store).
