Ballard Locks: It' links salty Puget Sound with the fresh waters of Salmon Bay, Lake Union, Portage Bay and Lake Washington to help prevent the destruction of the fresh water ecosystem from the corrosive salt water. There's also a botanical garden, as seen below:
